I work for a small architect firm that has oficfes in the tri-state area. My Supervisor recently asked me to find new areas to promote our services given that the economy has hit our area rather hard, especially for new construction. My first thought was the social networking sites, especially Facebook, and when I told him that he was a little hesitant but told me I could look into it and let him know what I found. He was MOST concerned with getting on Google's first search results page and that is what we are working towards especially. I was shocked there actually existed a BOOK telling us exactly how to go about it. But sure enough, Internet Marketing for Architects was superb in relating various ways we could increase our buisness, even locally, using search engines as well as the social networking sites. We have began two campaigns, both on Facebook and YouTube, and ARE seeing success already. Even though I knew that businesses were using social networks for some pomotion and even though I knew we needed to, I sure had no idea how to go about it. I am thrilled that Mr. Holliday compiled this guide. His click-by-click steps make things extremely easy. We are going to try Google Places next using his techniques although we are fairly pleased at Facebook already. Sure, social media might not ever be our primary means of promotion but we are pleased so far at its payback compared to the little time we have invested there. And as we move up on Google, we really hope to see returns.

Hey Dennis --
Apologies for not posting your comment immediately. I have definitely been in the midst of "culture shock" on multiple levels. However, to say that I was not ready to deal with the challenges I've been confronted with, would be to disregard the interpersonal development I've been privy to as a New Yorker for 26-years.

I am confronted on a daily basis by jealousy, professional power-plays and a gamit of "isms", in a manner that no well seasoned New Yorker can be fully prepared to deal with. However, over the years I've come to realize that powerful leadership, integrity and Karma always prevail over negativity.

I'm approaching my 1-year anniversary as a Valley resident. The sprituality, and inherant goodness of the people deeply impresses me daily, in a way that none of the inappropriate encounters I have had can compete with. My most profound lesson thus far, whereever I travel, I always take myself with me and I always am surrounded by joy - if I'm willing to embrace it.

After growing up in Phoenix and then travelling the world and settling in Manhattan, it is very hard for me to even visit Phoenix again. The racist, arrogant and non-empathetic values there are rampant to the extent that those who live there do not even notice.
Those who visit Phoenix and other parts of Arizona may become immediately charmed, but living there and interacting on a day-to-day basis with backward attitudes becomes agonizing and depressing.

The short answer is no, especially where Tweets are not "protected" on Twitter and therefore are available to the world. Think of the issue of UGC ownership this way, as an implied license for re-use, else every RT would be an unlawful copyright violation.
Hi Shana --
Social Media ROI takes time. It may sound like a cliche, but it's true. Prospects are calling me now that I initially made contact with via online platforms more than a year ago, subsequently met at a conference in November. The beautiful thing is, with consistency and about 45 minutes per day, your SM efforts have an exponentially higher $OI than other forms of marketing.
