Valentino:

In Italy I’m using my traditional blog regarding private and commercial law, www.Civile.it, also to talk about innovation, new technologies, to lawyers and citizens. To achieve this I’ve strongly supported multimedia development in our offices.

The tools I use are easy to find. What is more difficult, is mastering the way to use them. But, by constantly reading Robin Good’s commentary about his skills and his experiences, (www.masternewmedia.org), I’ve been able to develop my own, and have created a network of users, strongly connected to me.

The hardware is simple:

  1. a good webcam (for video interviews),
  2. a quality microphone and a headphone (to reduce echoes),
  3. and a obviously, a simple pc.

If you want better quality, it’s a good choice to start with audio only. To broadcast on Youtube or other platforms you can simply add a good icon, for example a logo, with Windows Movie Maker or iMovie, and upload on these platform to be indexed by search engines.

So, let’s start with Audio Podcasts.

1. Audacity (Windows and Mac, audacity.sourceforge.net): It’s terrific! It is free and lets you edit every part of your audio as you want. Very simple to use
Skype (win and mac, skype.com): to make the calls. If you want a video interview you can use Oovoo (win: oovoo.com) in the pro version.

2. Powergramo (For Windows: http://www.powergramo.com / For Mac: http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijack/ or http://www.ecamm.com/mac/callrecorder/ ): it saves phone calls in two separate tracks, due to the different level of microphones. With audacity you can erase when you speak “on” the other and you can amplify the volume.

3. My Podcast.com www.mypodcast.com that helps you manage your podcast even in iTunes.
Once you create a podtcast, this is only the beginning.

You can talk with others about interesting rguments and create just the feel and credibility you desire for the conversation. Honestly, doing interviews with someone is really better than doing them alone.

After the initial audio is complete, you’ll want to insert some jingles and finally a music in background. Mac users can use Garageband, which is simply great.

You should always keep in mind why you’re doing a podcast. It a great goal to always amuse yourself, and remember that you have also something to say. If your English is better than mine (I’ve no doubt of it), you’ll want to have captivating conversations and joke with your listeners.

Podcasting is a great way to find new opportunities, new readers, new experts.

As is the case with videos, but perhaps even better than video, a listner can understand immediately not only what you say, but how do you think what you say. That is always what makes the difference.

Thanks to Kara for her space, and good work to all of her readers!

Ciao!
